It’s been so fun watching these emerging Instagram worthy trends, here’s what I’ve seen trend this Holiday Season 2020. These are some of the best tips and inspiration to help you continue to enjoy the Holidays.

One of our favorite seasonal traditions is hauling our Holiday boxes to the living room and decorating the house with trees, garlands, and twinkling lights as nostalgic Christmas music plays in the background. I don’t know about you, but I couldn’t wait for Christmas! After a year filled with change and uncertainty, we’re more excited than ever to bust out the ornaments and start wrapping gifts. Of course, the pandemic has changed how we live, and it’s certainly influenced the way we celebrate Holidays.

I’ve found myself on social media a lot more in the last few months. Not only using it to drive traffic to my new blog but to feel more connected to my community after being apart from it all for so long. Social Holidays are just what we need and here I’ll share with you some new and old trends that will keep you in the loop.

Hot Chocolate Bombs

Thank you Tik Tok, this app has taken the world by storm and I’m here for it. I love binge-watching Tik Tok made me do it videos & these adorable & yummy concoctions are another hit. Hot chocolate bombs or hot cocoa bombs are cute little balls of chocolate that you put into a mug. When you pour hot milk into the mug, the chocolate melts and magically releases the marshmallows and cocoa hiding inside.

If you can’t find them near you, you can make them yourself here! A little birdie told me Target’s WonderShop brand makes them now! Be on the lookout!

DIY Dried Oranges

Diy crafts have taken over for the 99 & 2020. Traditional garlands have always been made of popcorn and dried fruit for generations. This new trend is specific to the do it yourself community. All over Instagram and Pinterest, you can find tutorials and how-to guides specifically on how to create your own dried Orange Garland. Step by step pictorials on how to do this traditional task, super adorable.

Early Americana decor shops around the Midwest and New England areas have oranges sprinkled everywhere during the holidays. They are usually included in most spiced potpourri pots and baggies, and they are staples in most rustic kitchens in the winter. Dehydrated oranges are so simple to make, and are really beautiful no matter where or how you decide to use them. Here are a few of my favorite images & how-to guides.

Virtual Cookie & Cocktail Exchange

To keep loved ones safe from COVID-19, you may decide to host your favorite Holiday gatherings virtually this year, including your cookie swap. But don’t fret: You and your guests can still enjoy all the deliciousness of your favorite holiday cookies digitally. Here, experts share how you can host an entertaining and pandemic-safe virtual cookie swap this year. Take it up a notch by adding your favorite Holiday Cocktails to the mix.

Farmhouse Holiday

Searches for farmhouse Christmas ideas are up 900% over the last five years, according to Google Trends. There is something about that cozy farmhouse feeling that is a Christmas necessity. Farmhouse inspired decorating ideas for Christmas adds to that nostalgic feel.

I’ve been bitten by the Farmhouse bug myself! One Pinterest pin after another I created the perfect Farmhouse Christmas without spending a fortune. I carefully added pieces I already own into the decor, neutral decor with natural elements. Farmhouse Christmas decor is all about feeling warm and welcoming.

Layered Entryway Doormats

Layered door mats have become a hot trend lately and I can totally see why. The combination of styling a rug with a mat on top creates a pretty functionality to the front doorstep. I layered my Buffalo Check rug with a smaller mat that says “welcome to our home”. I love the combination and Instagram is full of Entryway inspiration! Check out these beautiful varieties.

Buffalo Check/Buffalo Plaid

Plaid is one of the most important print trends across all fabrications, whether apparel, accessories, or home goods, according to Kristin Slinn of Boxercraft. I love Buffalo Check, red & black or white & black. It ties in that Farmhouse aesthetic & it isn’t too overpowering.

A brief history of the print dates back to the 1850s, buffalo pattern flannel button-down was a wardrobe essential for outdoorsmen braving the elements.

When the weather starts to turn cold all you want to do is cozy up in front of a big fire, drink some cocoa, and wear flannel. Why not celebrate it? Plaid is a reminder of comfort and simplicity and that is why it is here to stay. It is a celebration of comfort and hard work.- Whiltwood

Holiday Themed Masks

This season may be a bit grimmer than the last, but Holiday face masks can bring a sense of cheer to this Holiday season. By now face masks are not a trend but an assumed part of your wardrobe—perhaps you started with the standard disposable options, only to move on to cute reusable styles that go seamlessly with your tastes and lifestyle.

In an effort to keep you and your loved ones safe, Glamor listed the top 19 adorable Holiday face masks here. I love the Grinch one!

Festive Finger Foods

According to Martha Stewart’s article on Holiday trends 2020, “Searches for ‘Thanksgiving charcuteries board ideas’ are 20 times greater than last year, while searches for ‘Christmas grazing board’ are four times greater,” Swasti Sarna, insights manager at Pinterest.

I was inspired by this trend as well, I had to have a charcuterie board at this year’s Friendsgiving. Offering small bites to a smaller group with diverse pallets, and it was a hit! Now I have to offer a cheeseboard, charcuterie, something. Check out my how to put together a charcuterie board here

In conclusion, trend or no trend enjoy your Holiday season. This year has been enough and we can bring it to an end peacefully. Carry on those traditions, start new ones, just remember to show GRATITUDE for each day. Be safe & be blessed.

Happy Holidays,
